On September 19, we hosted a webinar on the topic of "Digitalbonus Bayern - 7,000 euros for IT security". Together with Florian Laumer, our project manager and cybersecurity expert, and Richard Walsh, an experienced funding expert, we were able to provide a comprehensive overview of IT security measures and state funding for Bavarian companies.
The highlights of the webinar
Florian Laumer has impressively demonstrated how urgently SMEs need to expand their IT security precautions. Current studies, such as Bitkom's Economic Protection Report 2024, highlight the growing threat: around 70 % of companies are affected by cyber attacks. The damage amounted to around 266 billion euros in 2023 - a worrying increase compared to the previous year.
To protect companies from these risks, Florian presented Passion4IT's security portfolio. Particularly in focus: The Cyber Security Checkwhich serves as a simple starting point for assessing the status quo of IT security in the company. This offering is supplemented by awareness training, emergency plans and a protection needs categorization to ensure comprehensive protection.
Digitalbonus Bayern - A funding program that helps
Richard Walsh then explained the Digitalbonus Bayern, a funding program of the Free State of Bavaria, which covers up to 50 % of the costs for IT security measures - up to a maximum of 7,500 euros per company. Particularly exciting: in addition to IT security solutions, innovative projects in the field of digitalization are also supported. This means that small and medium-sized companies can not only invest in their security, but also digitize and modernize their processes at the same time.
He emphasized how important it is to submit the application in good time before starting the project. The funding can be used for both consulting and training services - an ideal supplement for companies that want to raise their employees' awareness of IT security.
Questions and answers
Many important points were clarified in the final round of questions. For example, the participants learned that it is also possible to submit two applications as part of the digital bonus - one for digitalization and one for IT security. It was also explained that it is possible to use external partners for tests such as penetration tests or vulnerability scans and have these services funded via the Digitalbonus.
