HOW THE TOWN OF VIECHTACH, TOGETHER WITH PASSION4IT GMBH, SUCCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTED AN INNOVATIVE PROJECT FOR THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE HOST PRESENCE AND ITS ENTIRE IT INFRASTRUCTURE

Background and initial situation
The starting signal was given in October: Together with PASSION4IT GmbH, the town of Viechtach took the next big step towards the digital future. The initial focus was on digitizing the host directory - a project close to the town's heart to increase the visibility and bookability of regional accommodation. Before the project, only 5 to 10 of a total of 86 hosts were visible online. Now all 87 hosts can be found and booked online at any time.
At the same time Florian Laumer the introduction to the topic Cybersecurity with a holistic Cyber Security Check and a Phishing testto identify risks at an early stage and strengthen digital resilience. Subsequently Florian Achatz the further development of the digital working environment in Viechtach - with a systematic rollout of Microsoft 365.
Project progress & collaboration
Digitalization deliberately began with a low-threshold approach: with social media workshops for employees, hosts and retailers. The aim was to strengthen digital skills and create openness to change. The first major project was the development of the Online host searchwhich today serves as a central platform for guest inquiries.
PASSION4IT acted as digital mountain guide - an image chosen by those responsible in the town of Viechtach itself. This role describes individually coordinated, partnership-based support through all stages of digitalization. Those responsible felt that they were consulted, informed and involved at every step.
Holistic digitalization - also in administration and branch offices
The project now goes far beyond the host directory: together with PASSION4IT GmbH, the entire IT infrastructure of the city administration and its branch offices digitized. The aim is to simplify processes, improve collaboration and increase security. The introduction of Microsoft 365 is a central element of this - from email communication to collaboration in teams.
Technical and organizational results
The new cloud infrastructure, paired with accompanying IT security, has not only increased efficiency, but has also improved the IT understanding strengthened in the team. The city administration benefits from modern working methods, better communication channels and increased security in the digital space. Particularly noticeable: digitalization makes it easier for employees to Noticeably more fun - and leads to a new Team spirit.
