Protecting our home: how PASSION4IT takes responsibility with 5,000 m² of forest at Muehlriegel
In 2025 we leased a forest plot at Muehlriegel near Arnbruck together with Planted and Hula Earth — 5,000 m² of renaturation, a 20-year commitment, and AI-powered biodiversity monitoring.
We live and work in the Bavarian Forest. This region shaped us — and we want to help keep it worth living in. Not through PR stunts, but through concrete action.
5,000 m² of forest development at Muehlriegel
In 2025, together with Planted and Hula Earth, we leased a forest plot on the Muehlriegel near Arnbruck. Over the next 20 years, a natural forest-development area will grow there — no commercial forestry, no intervention. Nature handles this on its own.
What happens there is deliberate inaction: we let the forest develop, monitor it scientifically, and protect it from exploitation. Less spectacular than a tree-planting event — but more effective in the long run.
Technology in service of nature
What sets this project apart from conventional conservation: we deploy AI-powered acoustic sensors to document how animal species develop on the site. A live dashboard shows which species use the habitat — and how biodiversity changes over the years.
Our partner Hula Earth provides the sensor technology and data platform. The result: conservation based on data, not guesswork.
Why we do this
Since our founding, we have supported the 1% for the planet initiative — one percent of our revenue goes to environmental protection. Not because it looks good, but because we believe businesses carry responsibility.
The Muehlriegel site is the next logical step: regional, long-term, measurable. Exactly how we approach our IT projects too.
The partners
- Planted — platform for corporate climate action. Brokers the site, supports the partnership, and makes impact transparent.
- Hula Earth — provider of AI-powered biodiversity monitoring. Supplies the acoustic sensors and the analysis dashboard.
What comes next
The first monitoring results from spring 2026 are already in — 13 species documented, a clearly forest-shaped acoustic profile. We will report on the site’s development regularly in our log.
